Fitment, materials, shipping and custom work: the things people ask us most. Still stuck? Send us a message.
What is Filament Lab?
Filament Lab is an enthusiast-run 3D printing business in Bundaberg, Queensland, started by car enthusiast Brandon. We design and 3D-print reproduction parts for the Toyota Hilux, accessories for Audi, BMW and Mercedes fans, and custom one-off parts made to order. Every part is designed, printed and checked in-house.
Which Toyota Hilux models do your parts fit?
Our Hilux range covers more than one generation of the Toyota Hilux and Pickup, so fitment varies by part. For example, the right hand dash face fits 1978-1983 RN30, RN40, LN30 and LN40 models, the centre dash face fits 1982-1983 models, the vents are listed for RN36, RN46, LN36 and LN46 models, and the 1983-1988 cup holder conversion fits the N50 and N60 series, including the early 4Runner and Surf.
Every product page lists its exact fitment and OEM part number. Please compare it with your original part before you order, and send us a message if you're not sure.
Are these genuine Toyota parts?
No. They are aftermarket reproductions designed by a fellow Hilux owner. The right hand dash face, for example, was modelled directly off an original part from Brandon's own RN46 restoration. They are not made or endorsed by Toyota, and OEM part numbers are listed for reference only.
What material are the parts printed in?
We match the material to the job. Parts that live in the sun, like the vents and the cup holder conversion, are printed in ASA, which handles heat and UV. The dash faces are printed in ABS-GF (glass fibre reinforced ABS), which is stiffer and more heat resistant than plain ABS, so they hold their shape behind the windscreen. Our keychains and the F1 tyre plant pot are printed in ABS.
For custom jobs we also print in PLA, PETG, TPU and nylon, and we'll recommend a material if you're not sure.
Do the parts need any modification to fit?
No. They are designed as direct replacements. Your factory radio, ashtray and controls mount straight back into the centre dash face, and the right hand dash face fits with no modification. The centre dash face takes a standard Narva 81026BL 12V socket (not included) in place of the original cigarette lighter.
The cup holder conversion is tool-free: remove the factory ashtray and slide it in.
Can I paint the dash faces?
Yes. The dash faces come off the printer with a textured matte black finish, and ABS-GF can be sanded and painted if you want to colour-match your interior.
Where do you ship from?
Every order is posted from Bundaberg, QLD, and well packed so it arrives safely. The right hand and centre dash faces include free shipping within Australia, and shipping for everything else is calculated at checkout.
What is your returns policy?
Because our parts are custom 3D-printed and often made to fit a specific vehicle, we don't offer returns or refunds for change of mind. If your item arrives defective, damaged or not as described, let us know within 14 days of receiving it and we'll arrange a refund, replacement or repair. The full details are in our refund policy.
Can you make a part you don't sell?
Yes. That's how every Filament Lab part starts: someone needed a part that didn't exist. Send a broken part, a photo, a sketch or just a description through the custom request form and we usually reply within 24 hours. Every part is designed in-house to fit, then checked before anything goes near the printer.
How do I get in touch?
